Operations completing even when MES user unchecks Complete

"Bob" can't 'fix' his records (at least many of the details in an MES labor record) from MES.

Just ask your people to report errors when they realize they've made them and have a supervisor (or manager) go to Labor Entry in Vantage, call up his record and correct it.

Adding more records in an attempt to 'fix' usually makes it worse.

The answers:

1. There is two ways to solve your problem. First, you can enter one

in the current quantity and come back later to add another labor

entry. But, when you make the second entry do not enter anything into

the current quantity and be sure to mark it complete. If you do enter

a quantity (of 1 for this example) the system will show two units

produced. Second, you can do the opposite. When the machine broke

you could have put a quantity of 0 and make the labor entry. Then

come back to that operation when the machine is working and make the

second labor entry with one in the quantity and mark it complete.

2. The difference between Complete and Opr Complete comes down to

setup. Complete applies to both production labor and setup labor.

So, if you wanted to make a labor entry for just setup (which is

completely done) you would put 100% of setup complete and check this

box. Make sure the Opr Complete is not checked. This tells the

system that setup is complete and production still needs to be done.

Then when you do produce the material, you would want to make another

labor entry and include the units produced in the quantity field, and

mark both Opr Complete and the Complete checkboxes. Opr Complete

should only be checked when everything is complete.

Hope this helps, if not just reply.

The Setup:
Job 123 is to make 1 of part XYZ.
Operation 70 on this job is milling.
User Bob logs on to MES, starts Production on operation 70.
the mill broke, part must move to a different machine.
Bob logs on to MES and Ends Activity on that operation 70, enters 1 on Current Qty.
Because the job is for 1, the Complete box will check automagically.
Bob removes the check.
Clicks ok and closes.

Go to Job Tracker, open job 123 and you will see Operation 70 marked as Complete.
It is not complete, we thought, because the check is removed in MES End Activity.
If you open Bob's labor in Labor Entry, you can see that we have another check Opr Complete, which is evidently what tells Job Tracker that the operation is complete.

The Questions:

1. Should Bob leave Current Qty at 0 unless the part(s) are finished and ready for opr 80?
2. What is difference on Labor Entry between Complete and Opr Complete? The Help file doesn't really help me understand this.

Thank you for any help
