Options for resolving ODBC error "value exceeding its max length

From the proenv prompt, navigate to the folder where your db files are
and enter

Dbtool mfgsys

select the option for 'SQL Width Scan w/Fix Option'

select self service if your db is running

for Padding % above current max, I ususally set it to 200

Can anyone tell me the best method for resolving the issue associated
with ODBC where a Vantage note field is too large?

I thought I could create a table view through Progress SQL Explorer but
I'm having trouble with the syntax.

Any help much appreciated!
