OT-Barcodes in Excel

This might be more of an OT from your OT? As I am replying to your
email with another Barcode question, which may or may not be
relevent to your question.

We are on 6.1, and we would like to be able to Barcode in Receipts
and Inventory Movements. We were told this would be an easier set-
up if we moved to 8.0X? I have been reading about the new modules
and Handheld refers to Barcoding. And we were told by Epicor that
we would need the AMM modules. We would appreciate any
clearification, as I know other customers of Vantage have done what
we want to do in versions prior to 8.0X. We have been barcoding in
information (serial numbers into Text Fields...as we are not using
the limited serial numbering in Vantage).

Not to get too specific, but we want to be able to barcode the
transactions without having to manual click through Vantage to get
the appropriate fields each time we want to Barcode in information.
Is this what would be easier in 8.0X, and if so, is it the handheld
module and the AMM module that we would need?

Sorry for any confusion,
Joy

We are on 5.0 and I am working on barcoding in the shop. Currently
I need to make sure everything will work for physical inventory and
work backwards from there. For at least the first time, we may go
ahead to issue paper pi tags just to be able to recover if the
barcoded inventory doesn't work out for any reason such as lost
wireless access. I want to create barcoded labels in Excel, (.5 x
1.75) which will show the tag# and barcode of the same. The idea is
to put the stickers on the pi tags a week or so before inventory
day, with the number on the sticker matching the number on the pi
tag, giving the pi tag a tag# barcode. We may or may not use this,
but for testing I wanted to try it, an idea I got from the egroups.

I am in Excel and have typed 00001 in cell A1. Cells A2 etc. will
be a formula, adding 1 to the cell before it. I can work out moving
column to column with this for page breaks without a problem. I can
get the barcode in cell B2 to read in Vantage with *00001* entered
in B2. I'm sure there is a formula that I can use for the next row
that would give me *00002* but using the formula =a1+1 or =b1+1 or
something like that to get there, but I'm not sure what it is.

Any help is appreciated, and you can throw out some new ideas also
if you would like. Report Builder is working fine for the inventory
tags that will stay with the parts/material.

Thanks much!
