[OT] Blackberry / Outlook Redirect

You would use redirect so it will retain who the message is from. If
you forward the message, all messages will look like they came from you.
Did you check the exchange server to see if the message is trying to get
out? Do you have any other rules to see if they are firing when
messages come in?

I changed the subject of the prior thread to pertain the the new topic.

I can not seem to be able to redirect (or forward actually) to my user's
Blackberry email address from a rules wizard in Outlook. Works great to
forward to my email address on our server but when I use a "contacts"
address for his Blackberry account nothing ever happens. I can email
directly to that address (selecting from the contacts) and the
Blackberry receives it but when sending the user a message to his
Outlook address it never shows up on the Blackberry. I also log in to
the Blackberry web account for that address ahd do not see the forwarded
message there either. So it is like the rule never runs when the
forward address is external. Am I missing something in the rules
wizard? Can your forward messages to an external email address? Should
I use "redirect" instead of forward? I did try that but no luck there
either - what's the difference between redirect and forward?

Thanks,
-Todd C.

If you have Outlook and an Exchange Server, you can create a rule in
Outlook to redirect messages to your blackberry instead of using the
redirector with the Blackberry software. You will then be able to turn
off your workstation.

Todd,
Is the "contacts" address in the personal address book or on the
server? If it is not on the server try the following.

If you are running exchange as your mail server you can create a
contact in active directory that you should be able to forward to
from the rules wizard.

Open AD right click on users, select new / contact. Fill in the
identifying information, next make sure create an exchange mail box
is checked, select modify, select SMTP address, enter the email
address you want to forward to, click OK and finish. This will put
the contact in your global address book and should allow forwarding
with your rules.

Chris
Todd,

Is there more than one account that is being contacted ? i.e. Pulling mail
from two different POP accounts

Charles

This may seem like the long way to go, but it is clean without using
rule sets.

First load the redirector desktop software on the users desktop and
configure it as normal. Load the Outlook client on a server
(serverA). If you are running Win2000/2003 add the administrator
account to the mailbox rights of the blackberry user. Then load the
redirector software on serverA and it will pick up the PIN. You can
then take out the redirector from the stratup menu on the users
desktop.

I am working on trying to get the redirector.exe loaded as a service
so it will start up automatically.

Any questions, let me know
Jeff
