We currently use a Phaser (Xerox) 7700 color printer (22ppm color)
in our office for color printing. Now this printer is not a low cost
printer ($5500+), but we mainly purchased it for its ability to
print 12 X 18 color prints.
You may want to take a look at the Xerox Phaser 8200 (16 ppm color),
if you are only planning on printing 8 1/2 X 11. Xerox is currently
running a promotion where the cost is $1269.00 after rebate, and you
also get a years supply of black ink, (value of $300).
We are very impressed with the results produced on the 7700 and it
has been "issue free" since we purchased it 1 year ago. (Just add
paper and toner when needed.)
Hope this information helps.
