OT: Custom heatshrink covers

Hi,

You can buy from PC stores a touch screen protector which is basically a very lightly adhesive backed slear plastic which you cut and attach to the touch screen.

This wouldn't necessarily stop the smaller bits of debris collecting around the edges of the screen.

One option which we have manufactured for customers is a stainless cabinet, with a touch screen mounted on the outside, and then a secondary hinged door with a perspex window installed which closes over the screen to protect it.

When the user needs to use the touch screen then open the door, do what they have to do then close the door.

Therefore anything that might contaminate the screen (cutting fluid etc) is kept to a minimum as it can only come in contact with the screen when the secondary door is opened.

This of course only works with touch screen monitors - not hand held units.

Cheers,

CHRIS THOMPSON

Depending on how the touch screen works you might be able to use
heatshrink window insulating film. The stuff you heat with a hair drier.
If that is not durable enough there is a similar product use in RC model
airplane construction that is heavier (cause sometimes they crash!). It
comes in a variety of colors so transparent might be available. That
stuff is pretty tough. Not sure how you would secure the edges for
either type but it might work and not be real expensive either.

I have equipment that uses touchscreens for interfaces. I am looking for
a method or product that I can use to protect the screen and the small
crevices in the enclosure from becoming impregnated or damaged by small
debris, such as cutting fluid and metal shavings.

I am thinking about something that might work similarly to heat shrink,
but it needs to be durable. Maybe something like the plastic keyboard
covers that have been around for so long.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Carey

Hello All,

Has anyone tried or know how to create data entry field masks in Vantage? I would like to add a field mask to phone number fields so users can enter phone number data in a uniform way. We are currently running Vantage 406A.

Thanks,
