OT: Delay in receiving email on Outlook 2002 XP SP2

Has anyone encountered a delay in receiving email while on XP SP2?
We have Outlook 2002 running and the user says that nothing comes
into his mailbox unless he initiates some type of keystroke. Has
anyone experienced this?
