OT DST again Blank Title 54921

MS has a KB article on manually updating your Win2k Servers and
Workstations, KB914387. If you're not afraid of RegEdit it's very easy.

Thanks,

Randy

How are admins dealing with the DST issue? MS wanted $4K for Win 2K &
Exchange 2K fixes.

There is a plan in place here to move up to Exchange 2007, and to start
dumping the Win 2K machines mid year. Unfortunately, this will not
start happening until DST has passed.

I was told unofficially from a MS tech that the worst that is going to
happen is email will be time stamped an hour earlier. Being a small
company, management made the decision to live with that consequence. My
hope is to simply make a manual adjustment to the system clock, and be
off and running.

Bruce,

I have a couple of scripts that I used to update registry settings on my
Win2K servers and workstations. I ran them manually on my servers and
ran them via Group Policy on all workstations. It was a snap and it was
free. I can provide you with the scripts and directions to implement if
you are interested. It is all pretty well documented in MS KB914387.

Anyone else running into problems today connecting to the the vantage
database on WIN98 pc's? Yesterday we were fine, today the WIN98 machines
can't connect to the database. They can connect to everything else. All the
XP machines are fine. Running vantage 6.1.529 on a server running 2003. Any
help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Not much for help but I can confirm all our Win98 shop floor data collection PCs are working OK. Nothing special about "today" anyway. On advice of a consultant awhile back we configured WINS on the PDC and (if I recall right) set that server name on the Win98 machines. He said WINS is mainly only important for Win98 anymore but helps those machines live with newer servers. Any chance (via looking at event logs) that there is a WINS issue on the server - like perhaps a stopped service?
