OT: Excel '97 - Win2k Problem

I had this problem with Office 2000 on Windows NT machines. Under the
operator's login, it would open twice, but under any other login, or
administrator, it would operate normally. I eventually had to backup the
user's profile (email etc) and delete & reinstall the user on the PC. Then
it worked properly. My problem was caused by O2k service pack 1. When
Microsoft brought out SP1A, the problem never happened again. (Now on O2k
SP2)

I've installed Office '97 on several PCs with Win2k and updated with
Office '97 SR1, SR2, and Excel Post-patch update, and the Win2k SR2.
When I open an excel file, it always tries to double-open it,
instantaneously. I either get the "file already open" error or it
will simply close the first instance and open it a second time. I've
browsed tech-net with no results. Anybody else had this problem and
found a fix?

I believe there are some user settings that allows you to open programs with
a single click. You might look at some of the mouse settings to see if that
option is turned on.
