OT: For ELV REPORTING, CAS# for SAE 1010 COLD ROLL STEEL

I know a lot of Vantagalanties (pronounced " Van - tagal - anties ")
are metal stampers. Would any of you know what the CAS # is for SAE
1010 COLD ROLL STEEL.

Hi all,

Please help. Win2k client slow to recognize network drive.
The wire is ok. It happens at other locations when moved
in the network. The red x shows in the directory tree but
the connection can still be made. I have reloaded the
operating system.

I'm stumped. Any ideas?

This, I have read, is normal. It has to do with 2000. There is no problem

Think of the "CHECK ENGINE" light on your dashboard. Nobody knows what
it's for, or why it goes off, and every time I check my engine when it
comes on, yep. it the engine is still there. I think Microsoft used GM
and Ford's practical joke department.

The win2k is a Dell (like a ford or gm) but it is one of many identical
Dell machines we have.

They are all alike (win2k,processor,ram and hard drive, but this one is
ssslllooowwww.

Any ideas?

Try and force it to connect at 100. If you can not connect then there is a
card or wiring problem. do you have a sniffer program so you can watch the
network traffic on that computer?

Check prosperities on the NIC. it sounds like it is going to sleep. Turn off
all power management on the NIC and try again. What service pack are you
running? and What are your hubs? I have seen this problem using Kingston
switches.

Try connecting at half duplex instead of Full duplex, also check the nic
setting to see if its connecting at auto if so switch to 100mbs.

Thanks for the reply.

The network has 3com super stack 3300 switches 10/100.

I have not checked the power management on the nic.

It is an integrated 10/100 from Dell.

I am not sure if they have power management on the nic all other has
been shut off.

The service pack is 4. All critical updates have been done.

John,

Check the power management properties of you network adapter. Some will
allow the computer to turn the adapter off to save energy. It then
reconnects when a network request is made. Try un-checking this option and
see if you stay connected..

You are not really disconnected. We have no energy saving features turned
on and it still does that. But we are never truly disconnected. It is just
not interrogating the connection all the time.

I am also running a dell, check for power management under the network
properties. When you look at your switch is it showing 100 on the link
light? Also just for giggles check the rj45 at the computer and the switch.
Look at the Brown wire. I usually see the connection is not to good - - like
it is not all the way in. I have seen laptops show the X in the connection
and they still reconnect and are fast. Check for me the drive shares on that
computer look and see if anything weird is showing up as shared.

Replace the NIC with a functional one and turn off the onboard NIC in the
BIOS. That will tell you if your problem is at the computer or the great
wiring beyond.

I'm with Cliff, turn off the onboard Network and install a new PCI network
card and see what happens. I have had two DELL Optiplex GX300 computers
that had to have this done before they would ever run Vantage.

Replace the NIC with a functional one and turn off the onboard NIC in the
BIOS. That will tell you if your problem is at the computer or the great
wiring beyond.
