[OT] FTP - Part 2

Again, not to be sarcastic. But they're creating a problem, and they want
their suppliers to fix it for them.

They won't do this. They claim email is not secure (like FTP is better?) so
they don't want to email when they upload a file. Actually I think part of
it too is they are using an automated engineering distribution process to
push drawings out to various suppliers automatically. Personally I'm
feeling they are just being a PITA but they are the customer after all and
they contribute to my paycheck.

Thanks,
-Todd C.

Todd,

Not intended to be sarcastic. But email works. We put a file on the site -
we send an email to the person who will pick it up.

I got our FTP site working via our web hosting service (thanks again to all
who answered my last question). Now the customer wants us to automatically
be notified when a file is uploaded. They referred to this as a
"notification alias". Anyone know what this is and how I might go about
setting it up? I'm not even sure if our hosting service supports it. I
checked out a product called "Youvegotfiles" that periodically examines a
folder and notifies of new files but it was a bit more than we want to
spend. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
