OT: Getting rid of popups

Just as a thought, if you don't need IE for the browsing, try Opera. You
can control the level of popups (none, requested, all...etc.) it also has a
basic mail client built in. To me it seems faster than IE, I only have some
minor issues with the way it handles java, but most sites are becoming more
"alternative" friendly. The other nice thing is the ability to open several
windows in one parent window allowing you to explore searches better without
having 20 windows open on the task bar.
It's worth a try.

Personally, I prefer "The Proxomitron." It works like a proxy server &
even re-writes incoming HTML code to kill ads.

We are testing out a product called ADMUNCHER. It stops all advertisements
and popups pop unders, redirects etc. $25.00 for a single user $20.00 per
desk for the Proxy version. "www.admuncher.com"

I second Dan's vote here. It even has a quick bypass button in case you
actually did want to see something that may be filtered.

I use it all the time and its easy to disable and re-enable
Just right click on the taskbar icon
Works great

Google toolbar also has a popup stopper built into it
But there has been problems with google toolbars in the past

I'll second the motion on PopUp Stopper (free version). Works great, hold ctrl or shift to override. Price is right. Lately I have noticed a few types of pop-ups built in to sites that it does not handle but these usually have a control (X) to kill them.

Google also has a nice one now too that was featured in ZDNet about a month
ago, works great and is free plus it adds a handy search bar in your
explorer window.

I use Proxomitron also. I like it because it also stops banner adds as well
as Pop-up adds. Speeds up my web browsing on a dial-up connection. Problem
is I can't get to the web site to find a current download. The one listed
in proxomitron help has chinese letters on it.
