Just as a thought, if you don't need IE for the browsing, try Opera. You
can control the level of popups (none, requested, all...etc.) it also has a
basic mail client built in. To me it seems faster than IE, I only have some
minor issues with the way it handles java, but most sites are becoming more
"alternative" friendly. The other nice thing is the ability to open several
windows in one parent window allowing you to explore searches better without
having 20 windows open on the task bar.
It's worth a try.
