Hi Lydia,
I wonder if there is a print preferences choice when you right click
On the printer icon under printer control.
If there is check to see if you can make changes to suit
Your printer. Also check for a button to set default.
These have been a problem for us in the past.
Thanks,
John Mansfield

I had the exact same thing happen here. PITA. I reinstalled drivers,
etc. It would fix it for awhile then it would go back to being stupid.
It was in an office where only one user had access to it. Hitting the
button was an inconvenience but not fatal. We finally replaced it.

Subject: [Vantage] OT: HP2100 printer
I hope someone has some ideas about this:
We have an HP2100 laser on our network. Currently, there are only two
users
who are using this printer. We've had it for about 5 years, never a
burp.
In the last week, it has begun to require pushing the print button when
a
print job is sent to it. The settings on both workstations (been in
place
at least 6 months each) say print to Tray 1. The setting in the
properties
of the printer on the print server is also Tray 1. When I run the self
test/ configuration, it says it is set to manual feed. I can't find
anything on the HP website, or the manual (yes, it is that old). There
is
no way to change the setting on the printer itself (that I can find).
This
is, of course driving the users crazy. I'm already there.
Any ideas besides launch from the roof?
Thanks in advance.
Lydia
