{OT} Issue Tracking

Michael,
I am testing out a little package called Spiceworks that does just what
you want with a few extra's added in such as automatic IT inventory
tracking and network scanning.
I too am a one man show, and so far it's a cool little tool with some
nice features. You can give your users a web link to the computer it's
installed on and they can enter their own requests. If they enter their
email address, when you update the request they are notified. It also
allows them to tack all the requests they have entered to date. It has
some other nice tools as well. It's worth a look.

I am a single man operation here trying to manage all my users
change requests, issues, bugs, custom code requests, reports etc. for
Vantage on top of 10 other projects that I have going on.
Right now I am just keeping all this stuff in a spreadsheet, but I
would like a better way to keep track & keep users updated on the
status. It is just getting out of hand with all these issues &
requests, maybe I am just trying to please too many people though.
What software are some of you using to manage all this? I was thiking
like a small help desk software, but thought I would get some opinions
from the group.
Do you run an MS Exchange Server in-house? If so we use a public folder
for this using Tasks as the template. This works very well and the price
is right if you already have Exchange.

I use a great program called issueview.
Randall, who runs the project is awesome and responsive if you have questions.
It is FULLY customizable, and written in ASP.net. There is a web interface that shows all of the UI customizations automatically.
You can create projects, tabs to track, status, and it will even email out when issues are resolved.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Helps us a lot.

We use Track-It from Numara. It has a lot of functions, and can
certainly do what you need.
