Yes you have to activate, but I guess the pay off is when decides to up
grade. I am going to show my boss. He got a high end PDF for Christmas,
still hasn't figured out what to do with the silly thing yet. He may like
One Note. I read the fine print on the package and didn't get concerned,
it's fully functional. I've had it installed for a week with no issues.
And I really do like OneNote, it fits the way I do things.

I actually contacted Microsoft about this. I was told it's part of what
they call a "seed program" to get you to try the software and get you hooked
so that you spend a lot of money getting lots more copies. It is, in fact,
a fully functional version with no strings attached!

I received a couple copies of this "no strings attached" deal too but have
not tried it due to a certain uneasiness about anything with no strings
attached. So....how does this work? Do they require you to register and
"activate" the product? Any lack of full functionality?
Thanks,
-Todd C.

Recently, Microsoft (not MikeLowe-soft) sent me a full professional version
of Office 2003 (Free, no strings, not a demo, no time limit, out of the
blue). Included was a software package called OneNote. If you are
considering the purchase of OneNote, imho, it's worth the cost. A very
flexible searchable note keeping system that also allows editing handwritten
text from a PDF or Tablet PC. Nicely done MS. Oh yes, Office 2003 is pretty
slick too.
