OT - Need advice on Shop Floor / Data Collection software

At a previous company we had a similar situation and integrated Kronos time clocks with the mfg system in a batch process. Unfortunately this made things less than real-time. If I recall correctly (it's been about 7 years) we were working on scheduling updates as often as eveyr 30 minutes. Check www.kronos.com

Subject: [Vantage] OT - Need advice on Shop Floor / Data Collection software

Due to corporate dictates, all of the business units in our division must
have a common ERP/MRP system and we will be leaving Vantage.
The problem is this. The system they want us to use does not have a data
collection, job costing, or time and attendance module.
This is not a problem for the other BU's, just us.
I would like to hear anyone's opinion on what software they know of that
will allow the following:

Be able to clock in by op.
Be able to split the cost by job and/or op.
Do the normal time and attendance functions.
Be able to clock in under multiple op/jobs at the same time.

Would just Vantage's Data Collection allow this? Or would this not be
possible since DC is so integrated with the other parts of Vantage.

The system we will be going to and interfacing our new software with, is a
much customized version of Maxcim.

Any comments are welcome.

Jim,

If you're running Predator's DNC system on your shop floor, check out
their data collection software:

http://www.predator-software.com/mdc.htm

Even if you're not running their DNC, you could still implement their
MDC.

have fun,
john
