[OT] NT 4.0 Service Packs

Todd-

A "caveat" for anyone who uses Microsoft operating system products
ALONGSIDE Netware 5: Beware the supplemental "essential updates" that Bill
wants you to install AFTER SP6a: Some don't work well with Netware. Quite
matter-of-factly, they cause interminable problems. Even with Netware 5's
Service Patch 3.30, they don't work well together.

I wish we could all play together & get along, but the "Bully of the Block"
doesn't see it that way.

My $0.02.

I am setting up a server to run as a test platform for migrating from 4.0 to
5.1. I have an old license for NT 4.0 that was replaced when NT-SBS was
implemented. The NT 4.0 will need all the service packs applied.

Question; are the NT patches cumulative or must the be applied one by one?
If I recall correctly I can install Spk4, skipping earlier ones and then
Spk6, skipping 5. Or can I just go straight to 6 (or 6a)?

Thanks,
-Todd Caughey

Todd,

You can go straight to 6a. Be sure it is 6a and not 6. 6 had some
problems.

Todd,
You can go straight to 6a (I think that the latest). They're cumulative.

Three votes for straight to 6a. Thanks much. My goal is to have a bare NT
4.0-6a machine ready for Vantage by the end of this week. This will help a
lot.
