Well, I will defer to you on Shirley's intellect, but still fearing the whip
she apparently wields I will just agree that she is very intelligent ( I do
the same for my wife, BTW). But back to my question. What about the System
Mechanic software. Any usage feedback on this?
Thanks.

To quote a very intelligent lady (Shirley), "Norton AntiVirus is a Virus!"
I totally agree!!
I used Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition at my old job. While it caught
the big viruses it didn't catch the little ones and I also found that the
software just wraps itself around the workstation registries as well as the
server registry where its installed. It just seemed to suck the life out of
the PCs it was installed on by doing this.
I tested the server that had the Coporate Edition installed on it by
uninstalling the software one night. As soon as I uninstalled it the server
performed faster, had less CPU usage, and the memory had better performance
as well. Now I realize that virus software has to scan the files/folders as
well as incoming and outgoing email, but Norton just plain bogged down the
whole server even when I unchecked scanning of the vital Vantage folders and
other important folders. When I installed Panda software on the server
(testing only) and it was like night and day. The software did its job just
as well as Norton, but I didn't see or notice a "sucking" of the resources.
I'm staying with Panda!

Mechanic
4 Pro. Now I've been a Norton Anti-virus and more so Norton Utilities
support since the days of DOS so it is hard to get me to change. Has
anyone
used the System Mechanic and if so how has it performed in comparison to
NU?
I read Cnet review of NU '04 and they said very little change except that
it
has an anti-pirate utility that loads in memory. Now I'm all for
supporting
legit software but to consume my system resources to ensure my purchased
copy is legit is unacceptable to me.
Anyway...feedback appreciated. Thanks.
