Call MCI's customer service: 800-444-3333

It will rattle it back to you first thing. Most the local phone companies
have them too, but don't like to give them out. I never had too much
trouble getting the repair guys to reveal them, though. If you're in
Ameritech Dayton,OH dial 200. For BellSouth in Hendersonville, NC: 780-2311

Hoping that the technical people here might be able to help since many of us
also tend to phone systems and services.

I need a phone number for an automated service that reports what number you
are calling from. I know they exist. Usually the phone company (whichever
one you use) has a number its technicians call. 0-Operator does not want to
tell me what number I am calling from.

My new carrier for local services (Worldcom) insists that the number they
have given me for one of our T1 trunk lines is correct but it does not work.
There is dial tone and we can call out but don't know the number to call in.
I would like to call an automated number ID service and have it read back to
me the number I am calling from.

If you have such a number could you either reply or email it to me off-list.
This particular line is used by our alarm company to run a weekly
diagnostic. The alarm can call out no problem but they can't check it
because they don't have the right number.

Thank you.

Thanks Patrick,
I finally found one searching the web for ANAC (Automated Number
Announcement Circuit). I also found an article about the one you posted
claiming that because it is an AT&T collect call type number assigned to the
phone company it records the calling number of the caller and detemrines
their LD service thus targeting them for solicitation to switch. Maybe an
unfounded rumor but the writer recommended leaving off the 1010732 and
paying for the call yourself.

Better yet, MCI has an easy to remember 800 number. 800-444-4444 which I
used to find the phone number (which was wrong as it turned out). I suppose
they could record the caller number too.
