OT - Pivot Tables

I just wanted to thank Gail for calling me yesterday and
walking me through the pivot process. Unfortunately it will
not give us the info we are looking for, but that's because
we don't create an association the way the customer would
like us to do.

Oh, well! Thanks again, Gail!

Can we do that, but put the actual date next to the job
number?

The customer wants to see the actual date, not that the
job
will start in that week.

How about Part Numbers on the left column, dates on top
grouped by days,
weeks, etc (depending of the detail) and count of jobs
in
the middle?
Will that work? It will show how many jobs for a
particular part will
start in a specific date...Hope this helps.

I know this was discussed last year, but can't find the
emails, so I
hope
someone is willing to help. And I hope I can do it.

I have a spread sheet with part numbers on it. I have
another spread
sheet
with jobs, parts, and start dates.

I want a spread sheet that will show the part numbers in
a
column down
the
left side and then the start dates of the jobs going out
the side for
that
part number. I don't have to show the job number, but
just show the
start
date in a separate column for each job out there.

I've been playing with the Pivot table wizard everywhich
way I can think
of
and cannot get the other spread sheet to combine with my
original.

HELP PLEASE!

TIA,

It seems to me that what you are trying to accomplished is not a pivot
table, but a grouped list (see data/subtotals). You have the list of
jobs and actual dates to start and you can group records by doing
subtotals by date and then by part or vice versa. If you click in a plus
sign or minus sign, the record shows more or less details. Otherwise,
this is beyond my little knowledge of Excel. Good luck.
