[OT] "Send To" button for Outlook Express

It did have a "Mail Recipient", but it kept asking these goofy questions about Exchange, etc. Even thought Outlook Express is the default email. I deleted that Mail Recipient so I could try something else. I sure didn't understand what it was trying to do, and it was referring to Microsoft Outlook, which is on the machine, but we don't use it for email.

Troy:

Does "Mail Recipient" show as one of the options in the send to menu? If
so, you can make Outlook Express the default mail manager, then pick Mail
Recipient in the send to menu. Then it allows you to pick the recipient and
also shows the file as an attachment.

I should have been more specific. I can put the Outlook Shortcut into the
SendTo folder and yes, it will open Outlook. But if I right-click a file
that I want to email to someone, and select the Outlook Shortcut from the
SendTo menu, it opens OE, but does not attach the file -- on the Win2000 PC,
at least.

If you open the "Send To" folder in the user profile, you can copy a
shortcut to Outlook (Express). Then when you click on that in the menu it
will open up Outlook and allow you to chose the recipient.

Anyone know how? (P.S. This has happened on Win89 and Win2000)

Troy,
Sorry about that. Try this. Search for a "Send To" folder. On my Win 2K Pro
machine, it is a hidden folder. Be sure to have it set to view hidden. Open
this folder and drop a shortcut to Outlook Express and see if that works.

Jim,
I tried that, and all it does is open Outlook Express, but doesn't attach the file. Back in Win95 I remember using a simple text file (don't remember the extension), which had the command something like: OE.exe &1. OE.exe being the Outlook Express executable, and the &1 being a parameter to pass the file name. I don't remember the syntax, the extension, nor the Outlook Express executable name.

I should have been more specific. I can put the Outlook Shortcut into the SendTo folder and yes, it will open Outlook. But if I right-click a file that I want to email to someone, and select the Outlook Shortcut from the SendTo menu, it opens OE, but does not attach the file -- on the Win2000 PC, at least.

But if I right-click a file
that I want to email to someone, and select the Outlook Shortcut from the
SendTo menu, it opens OE, but does not attach the file -- on the Win2000 PC,
at least.

Troy:

If you open the "Send To" folder in the user profile, you can copy a
shortcut to Outlook (Express). Then when you click on that in the menu it
will open up Outlook and allow you to chose the recipient.

Jim,
Sorry. Couldn't find anything there specific to creating a SENDTO icon
for Attaching a file to an email.

Any other ideas?

Troy,
Go to http://www.mvps.org/serenitymacros/sendto.html and see if this

After installing Office 97, users have a SEND TO option (when you
right-click) for Microsoft Outlook, but not for Outlook Express. How do
I
now add the "Send To" option for OE?

I'm aware of the SendTo folder. I'm not aware how to add a Mail
Recipient
for OE to that folder.

Anyone know how? (P.S. This has happened on Win89 and Win2000)

Troy
