[OT] Server Room Monitors

Went with a sensaphone and hooked it up today. Tested and it works
great. Oh how I cannot wait for that 2am call :)

open/closed switch detection for a number of accessory devices such
as water detection, door open and other devices. I mainly use it
for power, temperature and noise level (incase an alarm is
sounding). I can call it form at home and it will detail all the
environmentals as well as allow me to listen to the room for 10
seconds. Not too hard to program once you get used to it and it is
not something I change often anyway.

Any recommendation on server room monitors that will call or page
for alerts of power failure or room temp?
Check out APC's version on their website. It might be costly though.

It was $564 through Zones.com and cheap insurance in event of A/C failure over a weekend.

Mike:

I have been using a RoomAlert 11E from AVtech. You can see them at roomalert.com. I am completely satisfied with it. Easy to setup, easy to use, monitors temp and humidity. I am not using it to monitor power (my UPS does this), however, I believe this can be done. Their tech support is good as well. This device can also do SNMP traps for lots of other things. When the temp in my server room goes above a set limit, this device pages the entire maintenance dept and myself, and also sends email alerts to all of us. It has a nice web based GUI as well.

Hope this helps,

Dale

Thanks for the input. Just had our second AC unit fail in a single
year, wow did it get warm in here real quick.
