OT: Shutting down server in the event of a power fa ilure

I may be crazy but I don't ever connect up the automatic shutdown stuff
between the ups and servers. I have found it more of a hassle than it's
worth. All it did was add addition down time and headaches.

Subject: [Vantage] OT: Shutting down server in the event of a power failure

Well got a good one for you
We have a Brand spanking new DELL 2600 Power Edge Server It is attached to a
Tripplite SU2200 100VA Battery Backup unit I am running Windows 2003 Server
Latest version of Power alert software

We had a power outage this weekend. (First time since putting in the new
server)
The server did not come back online when the power was restored The old
Vantage server did (HP LH3000)

Called Tripplite
They said its a Dell issue as all my settings were correct Said there is a
BIOS Setting that tells the system what state to return to in the event of a
power outage

REbooted the server over lunch today
No Setting
Called Dell
No setting available in BIOS/CMOS for this This is a software issue Their
recommendation, call Tripplite!

Called Tripplite - They say Dell is nuts and that if there is no setting in
CMOS for this then I am S O L

Anyone have a solution for me?

The power management built into Windows 2003 only lists a APC Unit and I
searched Microsoft's website for a drive without any luck!

Thanks
