It's funny that you posted this item today. My maintenance contract
on SurfControl runs out in November, and I just received a quote to
update our maintenance agreement today. I had the same exact
problem. This is the most rediculous thing I have ever seen. It
cost us $1,275 for a 50-user web filter & $319 for one year of
maintenance when we purchased it last year. Now, I get a quote
asking for $350 to update the maintenance on the 50 user web filter,
and $750 for the URL updates.
It blew my mind when I saw that, so I figured something had to be
wrong. I contacted SurfControl, and sure enough, this was accurate.
I told the person that I spoke to that it was rediculous that I had
to pay almost as much for a year's worth of maintenance as I paid for
the product initially. Her response was that they included the URL
updates for free for a year in the initial software purchase.
So, to answer your question...yes, the information is accurate, and
yes, we are getting hosed!!
