OT: Web Filtering product

FYI
Before you set a system like this up, you really need to review
your local state laws concerning privacy, regarding web and email
monitoring.

Specifically look at employee notification issues.

You as the IT guy may need to fix/change some things to have a successful
install, as well as making sure the companies legal liabilities are covered.

example:
Our state requires a signed statement from the employee that acknowledges
that their activity may be monitored.
Our state also requires a daily notification, on their PC's, of such
monitoring.

Plugging these things in probably the easiest part of the project.

I am in search of a web filtering product and thought that I would ask
the masses. I have looked at Aladdin's e-Safe product and am starting
to look at Barracuda's Web Filter 210. I want something that I do not
have to mess with much once it is up and running. I like Aladdin's e-
Safe but it is costly compared to Barracuda. But if it does the job
then it is worth it.

Thanks for your input.

I've been meaning to demo the Astaro Gateway for the kid's school but I was
surprised by the (education) cost. YMMV.

We just installed the Barracuda 310 . Simple to use and is doing the job.

Try Blackspider. Surf Control recently purchased this company and no hardware is needed. Easy to use with extensive reporting capabilities.
