OT: Windows 7 and Drives disconnecting

Well, depending upon whether the server is set to disconnect you or the client, you'd have to make changes in one location or the other. If you've not had disconnects before Windows 7, then I'd start with modifying there.

I think the reg keys you're modifying are incorrect. See Microsoft KB297684 for the correct keys.

We've not had any problems with the disconnects other than it freaks people out seeing the red x.

We are in the process of replacing computers in our CMM lab and we have come across an issue of drives disconnecting intermittently. We have applied a reg edit fix under the DWORD value>Enabled Linked Connections>Modify> Type in 1. My guess is this is a network issue.

Make sure you don't have anything on your network that is chattering away.

Did you change anything recently like adding a new PC or changing any addressing or network configuration ?

Maybe a simple reboot of a switch along the path.
