I know there has been various posts regarding SP2, but I have
created a 'workstation worksheet' with checkoffs so I can make sure
I only have to visit each of our XP workstations one more time for
awhile (I have some other updates to do besides this). I turned off
automatic updates awhile back because I was not sure that I was
ready for SP2. I have a MS Windows XP-pro Step-by-Step Guide to
securing Win XP Pro with Service Pack 2 in Small and Meduim
Business, but it clearly states that 'This guide should not be used
to secure Win XP desktops or laptops that are members of a domain',
which we do use a domain. To make a long story short, here is what
I have in mind on each workstation:
1) Create restore point 1 (before SP2)
2) Windows update including SP2
3) Turn off firewall
4) Create restore point 2 (after SP2)
5) Turn on Automatic Windows updates to download and install once
per week
6) Should System Restore be turned on???????
Any other settings that should be considered at this time?????
