Out of resources

Mike,

I didn't notice what version on Vantage you are on, but if it is 8.0, I
would make sure you have Dot Net SP1 installed on each client. We were
seeing hung sessions in the Session Manager, and that cleared our
problem right up! It also help with log off and lock up problems.

Additionally, make sure you have Session Timeouts enabled for each
User. This will allow hung sessions or idle user sessions to be reused
after 20 minutes (although I think there might be a bug that prevents
this right now).

If you are seeing hung session in MES, make sure you have the "Can
Suspend" feature turned off for users associated with a User account.
We had a strange thing going on there.

Cheers!
Good afternoon all and TGIF!

Quick question regarding the "out of resources (748)" message when trying to log onto Vantage. I know how to correct this but my question is really related to why this would occur if I have set the user/servers/clients per etc. correctly for the number of users using this DB. In my case I have a site with a db configured with 8 servers 4 clients per server for the 4GL connection and 8 servers 1 client per for the SQL (odbc) connection. From this I enter 8 X 4 = 32 + 8 = 40 for the number of users.

Now, this is a fairly small site so there is no where near 32 4GL connections at any one time. I would say 20 tops. My question is really have any others found circumstances when connections would not clear which would tie up the user count. Also, are there any known issues with SQL (odbc) connections hanging which would consume resources?

Call Tech Support. That formula in their documentation HAS NO
RELEVANCE to real live users. I remember using the formula the first day
I went live on 6.0. Wound up with Half my users able to log on. Had to
call Tech Support and they walked me through setting it up right.

TGIF : I came in to a down Exchange server and just had to rebuild my
ProE licensing server. I'm ready to go home before something else
crashes.
