Thanks but the same table is used by customer shipment packing slip (which
works) and we have defined codes such as; 1 Skid, 2 skids, ... to 10 skids
and 1 box, 2 boxes, 3 boxes.... and 1 Pan, 2 Pans,.... so that on the
packing slip the code suffices as the description (which Epicor did not see
fit to include in the dbf like so many other useful fields!). But the
calculated field bit might be my last resort and I could change the other
packing slip to match. Biggest problem would be all the current codes that
can't be deleted because they've been used.

If you don't have more than 20 codes or so you could create a calculated
field in the form to translate the code to whatever description you want.
This could be a quick & easy fix.

I called them. They seemed to not have heard of it before. Lost? Ignored?
Anyway, they said it would be noted and maybe in a future patch release
would be fixed. In the mean time, since we do nto use Lot id at all I am
considering in the VB Form I already have on SubShipD having the OK button
shove the package code (from the main screen) into the lot field (which is
available in the dbf). Probably won't work but maybe worth a try. Our 8
digits codes are all the description we really need but 3 digits won't cut
it.
Thanks,
-Todd

Todd,
I too ran into this problem. I discovered it a couple of years ago
during implementation of 4.0. I notified Tech Support of the "Bug"
and they shrugged it off as not being a critical issue, so I
shouldn't hold my breath about it getting fixed. I also wanted to
see the description on the Sub-Contract Packing Slip. So, I created
a work around. First, I changed all the packaging codes for Sub-
Contract Items to 3 characters. Second, I linked the Packing Table
to the SubShipD Table in the Sub-Contract Packing Slip with the
Package Code field, via ODBC (Merant 3.6 (not SQL92)). This allowed
me to display the Description and therefore I don't even worry about
displaying the 3 character abbreviation. It would be interesting to
find out what Tech Support would tell you now. If you do call them,
let me know.
