If you want to include some cost in the BOM and also show potential
re-ordering requirements then call it a material and backflush it based on
some estimate. Square inches of a part's painted surface modified by the
transfer efficiency of your painting method should get you close enough.
I also recommend cycle counting the paint stocks once per month. That will
keep things in order as well as indicate if you need to adjust your
estimates.

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Paint
We use paint as a shop supply (overhead). But we also use a heat transfer
cement (expensive) in all different and un-known amounts. So with the
cement we just made a little estimated formula per job and adjust it once in
a great while as well as adjust the remaining (or shortage, usually never)
when we purchase more material. That way we get at least some kind of cost
allocated to the jobs.
Hope this helps.
Our parts are all sorts of shapes and sizes that get painted. It's hard to
measure exactly how much paint, primer, etc. gets used. So I was wondering
how other people are handling something like this in Vantage, or are you
even bothering to use Vantage?
Any ideas would help at this point!
TIA,
M. Manasa Reddy
