Part Copy Blank Title 81471

Mark, can you tell me more about how this is done in E9? I will admit I missed the Configurator reference, so I'm glad I didn't mis-type. :-)

There is no way to do this in Vantage (other than Brian's suggestion of
using Service Connect) but this capability does exist in Epicor 9.

FWIW, In Vantage I usually do my configurator development on a different
part/rev number in the live database and then copy the MOM and Configurator
data to the production part/rev when I'm ready.

Automating this via a BPM and Service Connect would be relatively straightforward, but there's no other way I can think of.

One thing that you have to be really careful of in Vantage is that all of the master file data has to be setup in all databases, and all companies. For example, if you have a bunch of product groups and part classes defined in your Pilot database, those need to be setup identically in your Live database.

We were still chasing our tails on issues that stemmed from these kinds of issues. Customers wouldn't copy via MultiCompany between companies because Sales Territories had different IDs in various places.

My experience from last year with Vantage 8 is that you will need to purchase a configurator copy tool from your CAM. This tool then needs to be upgraded with each version change.

We were moving many at a time with this tool, I don't know if there is a simpler method for doing only one or two.

As Mark Said, there is no standard way to do this, However we have
available a Import Export utility for the Configurator for 8.03.4XX

It allows you to Export to XML and import from XML, similar to the
Epicor 9 version

Except you don't get the option like with the Epicor 9 version to export
/ import various elements,

Instead it just does the whole Configurator.

I wrote this when I had the exact same problem, you can then develop in
a test environment and take backups as you go.

One thing to note is it does not copy the method,

So you need to ensure you have the bill of materials and operations the
same in both environments.

Contact me off list if you need further information.

Regards,

Stephen
