Part Maintenance - Qty Bearing Flag Bug (8.03.405 - 8.03.408x)

Patti and Michael,

I believe this issue has actually existed since before .405, and I would
recommend that you look a little deeper before moving on. You should
probably investigate whether the running totals in your Part Transaction
History's are calculating properly and whether you may potentially capture
(or not capture) cost transactions that you may not want (or want) as a
result of ADJ-QTY transactions. At a previous employer, I discovered a
painful problem related to this Qty Bearing checkbox, a problem that was
compounded by a Service Connect workflow not being configured the way it
should have been.

Regards,
Scott

Usually when you take a part from Qty Bearing to not Qty Bearing...the
system defaults the changed Costing Method to S(tandard). I haven't verified
this if you are trying to mark it as Qty Bearing...so you might want to do
some doubling checking on the costing method on both the part and partplant
records.

am not missing some other fields that may need to be updated.

I reported an issue yesterday that has exisited since 405 (and continues to plague 408). If you change a part from QTY BEARING = True to False...you are prompted with the question to change the Costing Method and Qty Bearing flag on the Part Plant record.

If you answer YES...it changes the Part Costing Method and Qty Bearing flag (main screen) and changes the Costing Method on Part Plant (plant screen); BUT NOT THE QTY BEARING FLAG.

The workaround is to always go to the Plant tab and manually uncheck the Qty Bearing Flag.

SCR53410
Tenatively scheduled to be fixed on 8.03.409

Does that flag any other fields in the partplant when you update. I just wrote a bpm to uncheck it in the part record and in the partplant for the product groups & part classes that are non qtybearing. I want to make sure I am not missing some other fields that may need to be updated.
