Part Master Revision Levels

I told you I was missing something, thanks. I can't believe I missed that.
This will be perfect for what I need. We actually use this to allocate our
tooling against a job and the Rev. Level only indicates the clearance
required for the particular material we are using. We use this allocation
with a custom Time Phase report to plan our tooling requirements. I tried it
out and it works great thanks, I guess I never noticed that box before.

If the part has multiple revisions in Part Master, say rev 0, 1, and 2. If
you want to release rev 1, then in job entry, when you select material, add,
you can type in the part number. Just to the right will be the revision
box. It will probably default to rev 2. Change it to rev 1.

Keep in mind the revision box is not labeled.

Did I oversimplify your problem or is there something I'm missing?

Do these seperate parts (by rev level) need seperate bin locations? If not
"need", would it help, or is it even possible? In other words, does Vantage
treat the same item number with seperate rev levels as sepaerate parts?

I think revisions are more geared toward assemblies. With each revision, you can have completely different bills of materials releasable to job entry.

For stock parts, it seems the "part" is stock, not the revision. I believe there would not be separate bins for separate revision levels. I think it would be up to you to ensure the different revision levels of the part are actually interchangeable (same fit and function). It comes down to the definition of a revision - if the new revision cannot replace the older version, is it still the same part or a new one?

If the part has multiple revisions in Part Master, say rev 0, 1, and 2.
If you want to release rev 1, then in job entry, when you select material,
add, you can type in the part number. Just to the right will be the
revision box. It will probably default to rev 2. Change it to rev 1.

Keep in mind the revision box is not labeled.

Did I oversimplify your problem or is there something I'm missing?
