Part Shortages

Andy,
We did something like you are describing in a VERY complicated Crystal report -- called "Mfg. Shortage Report". The number of subreports required (primarily because of the complication of aggregating OnHandQty's from multiple bins for the same part), plus accessing 'unlinkable' tables to get purchasing information, caused us to redesign the report using export tables rather than using an ODBC connection. It was taking 6 to 8 hours to run the report with ODBC, plus slowing our server down incredibly during that time.

I don't know if sending you the report would be that easy because of the need to also send all the data exports for the table as well.

It was not an easy task, to say the least.

A second response to your question is that we have develped an Excel/Visual Basic program that uses our production schedule to answer the question: "Can I build it?". We have the MRP module from Epicor, but have found it cumbersome and ineffective for the type of dynamic scheduling that we need to use in our plant. These customized tools have helped ease our pain somewhat, but I don't think they are ones that I can pass on very easily.

Subject: [Vantage] Part Shortages

We would like to be able to perform a multilevel shortage report for
a BOM /Job

We have BOM's with multiple levels and wish to know which parts
(purchased)
are short(not in stock) throughout all the levels of the BOM/Job.

Also when is the shortage going to be available in stock.

Does anyone do this or anything similar and how??
