Because the shipment doesn't pass through inventory, the costs would not be updated. Same with a purchased part bought directly to a job.

costing is Lot FIFO, so I don’t think there be any harm in updating last also? Just to make it easier to find in part Tracker.

If you ship MFG-CUS – it does not update the PartCost table.

 

It goes to Cost of Sales or however you set up your Product Group.

 

You can see the cost on the Sales Gross Margin Report.

I am finding that the Last Costs are updated if we do a Mfg Receipt to Inventory, but not if we Ship from the Job. MFG-CUS.

 

Reading the field help this seems on purpose and support doesn’t know if this is correct or not.

 

Is cost only updated if the transaction involves inventory?

 

has anyone done a DD bpm on parttran to update partcost or would you approach it differently?

We are FIFO with lot tracking and I haven't seen any use for last cost since you apply material cost to the lot itself. In what instance would you have an additional cost for manufacturing that wouldn't be tied to inventory, labor or subcontracted operation? As needed, we've modify material burden rate at the job cost adjustment level but beyond that, I don't know what/why we would need something like a miscellaneous charge

We use last cost to see changes in the unit cost of a part vs our  average cost.

In what instance would you have an additional cost for manufacturing that wouldn't be tied to inventory, labor or subcontracted operation?
