We have a few jobs that list the cutoff saw as the first operation. The job will be to make 50 total pieces, but at the saw op, they just cut one blank. Later-on down the line that gets broken into the 50 pieces.
How do I setup the saw operation so that when they cut the one piece that is required, it is reported as 50 pieces done at that op? I might be thinking about this the wrong way, so I am open to questions and suggestions.
Thanks!
Nate
In the method or job at the saw op you would adjust the Qty/Parent field to 0.02. Then for each 50pcs it will create a run quantity of 1 at that operation
They just cut one blank. The lathe op is where that one blank is loaded and then it becomes 50 pcs. I like @Nicholas_Muellerās suggestion that we set the qty/parent to a decimal figure. I will look into this.
Thanks!
Nate
Ah, the first operation is cutting the blank that will turn into 50 pieces.
Yes, @Nicholas_Mueller suggestion is what I would have said. Just be careful that you do out the math correctly if the quantity on the job changes. If the quantity is 75 or 25, your reporting qty will not be 1. If your blank is set up as sqin/sqft, you could build out the relationship.
