Good morning,
I am making some changes to various resource groups in our part masters. I have a big group of parts that have a blank revision, or a revision with no value in the rev field. How do I assign a value to these revisions? Even the ones that are not approved seem to be locked so that I can’t change the rev field. For the part/revs that are approved, I can’t unapprove them, or I get this error:
Rev is required.
Exception caught in: Epicor.ServiceModel

============
Correlation ID: af87effc-dee1-4afe-84b1-4ac6505cac51
Description: Rev is required.
Program: Erp.Services.BO.Part.dll
Method: ChangePartRevApproved
Line Number: 2925
Column Number: 17
Has anyone else experienced this? Do you have a solution? Is there any valid reason for leaving the rev blank? I am considering asking Epicor to try to fix those bad revs.
Thank you for your time!
Nate
So, you can’t and don’t need to approve a revision if there is none. (blank/greyed out)
AFAIK you cannot ‘change’ a revision only update the BoM/MoM (method) of one, you can also make new revisions.
If using DMT I use the PartCombined to input/update parts including their revision(s) base info. Next will be a DMT MoM against said revision(s) and finally a BoM DMT update/input.
I saw something similar with a part having Phantom check and not having any revision, but difficult to tell which part is triggering this issue. One within the BoM with bad settings or the one he’s trying to apply updates to… Just tried to answer the questions OP posed.
I believe I have seen this happen before… someone typed a space in the rev field when they created it. It is not possible to “change” the revision, as this is an indexed field. you can only create a new revision and copy the details from the blank version.
FYI, i think that DMT also allows a blank revision, so it could have been imported.
