Has anyone come up with a way to pass variables to attached documents?
Our use case is we have attachments on the part rev level that we want to print out with our job traveler via break routing. We want the job, lot, and serial numbers passed into the attached documents.
What are you using for document storage?
Currently an on prim docstar environment.
I would set up the attachment meta-data to have those fields included. They would potentially start out blank, but you could always run some kind of update to capture the information at a later time. I believe you will run into an issue with the timing of the documents being attached and the material being issued with the lots and serial numbers.
The documents in question are pdf’s. Do you have documentation I can review on how to do this with pdf’s?
Did you create Document Types in Epicor for your documents? Once a document type is created, you use the Attachment Metadata Maintenance to tell the system what information you want to automatically capture on attachment. Look at the documentation for Document Management in the help files.
