Payroll Module Setup

Jerry-

I called Sandy Morse directly and discussed. Seems the "LABOR TO
PAYROLL" checkbox "unchecked itself" (I probably didn't click all the
"OK" buttons after checking it the first time). Problem solved. Thanks
to you and Sandy for your assistance!

Thanks!

I wouldn't think a restart would be needed either. Have you "activated"
your payroll with a beginning date? (carefully - this can not be changed
later)

Jerry-

It is not automatically checking the "PAYROLL" box (the clerk even
logged
out/back in). Do I maybe need to re-start Vantage on the server
- I wouldn't think so.

Thanks!

To those who have set up the Payroll Module...

I've asked similar payroll setup question in the past and I thought I
had all of my "ducks in a row" for testing; however, I think I found
something that will not permit me to do this the way I had intended.

My plan was to make a current copy of our DB and go back to the 4th
quarter of 2004 and enter YTD payroll information into the DB copy and
key in the weekly payrolls of October/November/December using the labor
hours already input via Labor Entry to gain a comfort level that
everything is setup correctly and to "work out the bugs". However, I
believe since we are interfaced and once I run the WIP/Capture Post
routine at the end of every month, I can not go back and check the
"Payroll" box on each employee's daily labor hours input (Labor Entry)
in order to "Feed Payroll". Is this correct? In addition and if this
is correct, how do I get this box to be checked automatically going
forward - enter a beginning payroll date in the Payroll Module
configuration? Currently, it is not checked during the daily labor
entry process, and I've got to believe there is a way to have this box
automatically checked.

My plan "B" would be to enter a date (I assume as of 3/7/05) and make
another DB copy at the end of March so that I can use March as my "test
month". In addition, I would also run parallel on the live DB for the
months of April/May/June before going live on 7/7/05.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

checked for "payroll". After you have run the capture you can not edit the

We do not use the Data Collection Module (we have a clerk manually enter
timecards via Labor Entry). Given this, I wonder if your suggestion is
valid for us? (the Data Collection button on the Configuration screen is
grayed out).

You would have to check the "payroll" box for each time entry. Even in our
setup if we manually add time for an employee the box is not checked by
default. I do not know of any way to change that default. If anyone does I
would like to know also. We have to occasionally add time for an employee
and we must remember to check it or I get a visit on pay day.

That is interesting because we use data collection and the "Labor to
Payroll" has always been checked. When we add time manually through labor
entry the "payroll" checkbox does not default to checked. It is checked if
we go in to edit any time entered through data collection but we have to
remember to check it for manual entries. There must be another
configuration somewhere that I haven't found. I will do some looking now
that I know it is possible.
Thanks Randy.

Rick,

On our test database I unclicked the "Labor to Payroll" box, went to
Labor Entry and the Payroll box was unchecked. Then I went back and
clicked "Labor to Payroll", went back into Labor Entry and the Payroll
box was checked. I am not sure what is happening with yours but that IS
the checkbox that controls whether the labor detail is sent to payroll.

I wouldn't think a restart would be needed either. Have you "activated"
your payroll with a beginning date? (carefully - this can not be changed
later)

Jerry-

It is not automatically checking the "PAYROLL" box (the clerk even logged
out/back in). Do I maybe need to re-start Vantage on the server
- I wouldn't think so.

Thanks!
