As I understand the scheme of things, payroll data tables are not accessible through Report Builder. You must use Results.

Has anyone created some reports in Results for payroll data?

We had a few simple reports that we had written in Results for Vantage
version 2.7 and they worked in 3.0. When we upgraded to 4.0 the reports
didn't work because the database name has been changed from dcdv7 to
vantage. I got instructions from Vantage to create an alternate icon for
Results that will use the vantage db but think its named dcdv7. I only got
one of the reports to work that way. I have not been able to create any new
reports since our conversion to 4.0.

We have all but given up on using Results. If we need any payroll data, we
do a file export.

We did purchase a CBT (computer based training) CD for Results from Progress
(approx $400). I've just barely started into that and have no idea if it
will help or not.

Bottom line, I wish there was an alternative to Results. I'm pretty good
with Report Builder and Crystal but find Results very difficult to use even
when it was working. You can't even preview reports on the screen. You
have to attach it in Vantage and then go into Vantage to print it. If you
decide to make a change. You may just consider starting from scratch again.

Those are my thoughts, anyone else had similar experiences?

We had done a couple of small ones but gave up when the export utility
became available. Results is a real pain and needs a lot of care and
feeding. We let ours die a slow agonizing death.

No, but we have used the export utility to get payroll information to an excell file. You must be logged on with payroll rights before you will see the data.
