Payroll tax payments/filing using vantage

Matt/Robert-

We use National City and it's Exact4Web product, so I KNOW the payments
can be made electronically (another Vantage user uses this same thing).
It's just that the person I talked to at the IL Dept. of Rev. had no
idea what I was talking about.

Thanks!

Rick, Most (maybe all) banks have programs to help with this....our
little
two branch bank gave the program to us for free.

To all those using Vantage payroll...

I just spoke with the State of Illinois's "FSET" department regarding
getting set up to electronically file/pay payroll taxes (we plan on
going live with Vantage Payroll on 1/1/05). She said we either must
develop our own software that must be approved or use an approved vendor
in order to do this. I'm confused! What I'm hearing is that we MUST
retain ADP for our tax filing/payments in the State of Illinois. Is
that correct? She went onto say that other states are similar (I
haven't been able to get in touch with anyone at the State of Indiana
yet -- those ever so convenient hours!!) Anyway, would Vantage, itself,
be approved for use? I have a feeling I wasn't talking to the most
knowledgeable person in the department, as she did not know who "ADP"
was!!

Any guidance/help would be appreciated!

Rick,

You must be talking unemployment taxes. You are required to file
electronically if you have more than 150 employees or something like that.
I.D.E.S. website gives you the parameters to submit a file (even you could
do this online). However, you will need to extract information from Vantage
and modify it accordingly.

My suggestion is that you will need to do this 4 times a year and setting up
custom programming or other complicated solution is not worth it. You could
set up and preview a quarterly report that shows gross, taxable, and tax
liability. If you are connected directly to Vantage (not using terminal
server), you could open windows explorer, go to c:\epicor\mfgsys61 (assuming
you are in Vantage 6.1) and sort the folder by last modified descending.
This will put the file for the report you are previewing on top. Copy that
file and import it in Excel, clean it up, and if you want, you could import
the Excel file in Access to create the file to be sent to I.D.E.S.

Total time: Preview, Clean in Excel, Import and Export in Access = 5-10 Min.
Cost is negligible. Custom solution? $$$$$$

Good luck!

Mario-

Only 50 employees in IL, so that's not it. I have a feeling that this
can be done, it's just that I'm new to it and the person I spoke with at
the IL Dept. of Revenue doesn't have a clue! I'm going to touch base
with Deb Wilmoth at Reeder & Kline, as she has answered my questions
regarding the setup of the Payroll Module in the past. I just thought
that IL had something unique about it.

Thanks!
