Payroll, Time Clock, Shop Floor

We use old PCs for our Data Collections also, but we're running
terminal server on them and that works well. We use ADP for Payroll
and are using the ADP data export from custom programming which is
fine too. I believe the payroll totals are posted manually here as
well. Management wants us to look at using Vantage Payroll and the
3rd party HR module they are selling in the near future, but we don't
have anything scheduled yet. We have a PC running the shop buzzer.
We have a program called Atomic Clock installed on each server and
that PC to keep the time correct.

Due to convoluted OT calcs the ADP data export custom programming mod
never worked for us. We don't post "hours" to the G/L but do
manually post payroll totals. We have no electronic time clocks
anymore - time on the shop floor is totally collected via DC. The
old punch clocks used to handle the shop buzzer - now this is via a
sound card in the server wired to the paging system and controled by
an AT schedule. This assures the "Vantage Time" is always the buzzer
time.

I am in the process of getting started with Vantage.

How have others handled the coordination of:

*an outside payroll service
*an electronic time clock
*Vantage posting hours to the general ledger through Shop Floor Data
Collection

We use shop floor DC via plain old PCs (cheap home builts). I have a report for data entered into Paychex service (we used to use ADP). Due to convoluted OT calcs the ADP data export custom programming mod never worked for us. We don't post "hours" to the G/L but do manually post payroll totals. We have no electronic time clocks anymore - time on the shop floor is totally collected via DC. The old punch clocks used to handle the shop buzzer - now this is via a sound card in the server wired to the paging system and controled by an AT schedule. This assures the "Vantage Time" is always the buzzer time.

If the minimum PC for Vantage 8.0 is as poewrful as I fear (and expensive) we may lok seriously at terminal service for those stations.
