We ran into this issue and here was the cause for us... We upgraded
from Vantage 8.00.308C to Vantage 8.00.408B. What we didn't do was
upgrade our Crystal Reports version from 10 to 11 which is required to
do when you upgrade to Vantage 400. Our reports worked fine in 408B
with Crystal 10 so the lady that managed/created the reports thought it
would be ok. Big mistake! For the next few months we struggled with
system slowness issues. I even got Ben Nixon to run through our
system's setup, he couldn't find anything. We finally opened all our
custom Crystal Reports and resaved them in version 11. This immediately
had a positive affect on our system. Don't make the same mistake we
did.

I forget the exact issue as it's been a LONG time since we ran into it.
But
as best I can recall, there was an option in the schedule that was
labeled
pretty unintuitively and activating it would cause the tasks to latch
onto a
new appserver everytime they ran without releasing the previous one.
I know that's vague as as hell, but it's been a while since we dealt
with
that. I can't find any emails or anything with the exact details.
If you want a faster way to test if this is the issue, increase the
frequency of your schedule. If you push it way up and your system bogs
down
faster... tada!
