Plant Floor Data Collection (6.1)

Ok i have this one for you. What if for a job it is decided to hold
a particular job already to let another job use the same resource.
Because we have this scenario where we have to hold another job as
another job with a higher prior must be started and finished. So my
question is how would you hold another job with its schedule to let
another to start and finish? Because we want to set the other job
with the least priority to wait unit the job with the highest
priority finish with the same resources.

Hope you can help out.

more) remaining at year end they can roll a point (plus the excess
over five) over for the next year. Gradually accumulating future
leniency. When they get to 10 pts I think there is some sort of
reward. So they learn pretty quickly to clock out before they leave.

We're looking to start using the Vantage Plant Floor Data Collection very
soon. The major concern that management have is that shop workers will
'forget' to End Activity on their current jobs at the end of the day,
leading to a lot of work for some admin person(s).
What advice would you current users offer?

Any aditional advice on handling varying shift patterns would be gratefully
received. Our factory people finish early afternoon on a Friday and
therefore do not have a lunch break that day. I've not come up with anything
more sophisticated than the user having to remember that on Friday they use
a different shift than Mon thru Thu

We use plant floor data collection but also have the payroll module (Vantage
6.0). All of our hourly employees clock in and out using touch screens with
barcode scanners. The system will not allow the employee to clock out until
they have ended all activity. We haven't had any problems. The
touchscreens are nice because they will show the employee what operations /
jobs they are still in. We have almost no problems at all.

We use Plant Floor Data Collection and the supervisors of each bay are
supposed to make sure all of their guys are clocked out at the end of
the day. However, because of past experience, I check to make sure
everyone is clocked out before I leave. I don't trust the employees or
the supervisors and usually once a week, I have to clock out an employee
and then ask the shop supervisor when the employee actually left. Some
of our employees in the shop are worse than kids. You have to hold
their hand on everything. I wished we had the ability to dock them one
hour if they forgot to clock out. That would give them the incentive to
make sure they are clocked out before they leave.

We've been using data collection for about 3 years. We have about 150
employees, with everyone (except the president) required to clock in/out
every day. We use the notes field for the employees to enter notes if they
make a mistake and these get corrected each Monday morning for the prior
week. Each week we have to make some adjustments, maybe 15 minutes of time
per week, but it is no more time than we spent when we had a regular
timeclock. Actually, its less time because there is no more need to match
timeclock punches to manual timesheets to confirm all pay hours are
accounted for on jobs.

We did have a handful of employees that were constant problems - whose time
required manual adjustments several times a week and who didn't seem to get
better over time... I started tracking every time I had to make an
adjustment by employee for those people - and gave the report to our
president after 3 months with total # of times adjustments needed and total
of my time spent tracking down the information and fixing it. I'm not sure
what he did / said to them, but they have never been an issue since.

Sarah
We have been using data collections for about 9 years. For the first 2
years we had employees forgetting to clock out. We then got rid of our time
clock and used Vantage info to upload for payroll. When an employee forgets
to punch in or out it screws up their check in most cases shorting their
hours. This has eliminated 99.9% of clock in errors.
