I am have a real problem with a part of a formula, I have product group
ranges and different ranges belong to different production areas. I have
some quirky product that fall within a particular product group but are
really part of a different area. The only way I can flag them is in the Part
master file use one of the Character field and type something like BH......
My problem is when I add in my formula to excluded a particular item that is
in that group but has an BH in the user field I get a syntax error you can
see below the part of the formula that is causing me a problem...

I need the formula to look at the particular range of product code and if it
fall within these codes BUT has a BH in the user field to exclude it from
the group..... I need a function Part.UserChar3 Not = "BH" but this doesn't
work any other way of doing a Not = to??

Mark -

You may want to double check how you are grouping your conditional
criteria.

Please make sure of what you are comparing in your conditional
criteria. Each of these equations are testing different criteria based
on the location of the parenthesis (). If it helps, remember the
mathematical order of operations for rule guidelines.

if (A or B and C) then D
If ( (A or B) and C) then D
if (A of (B and C) ) then D

kind of like:
(2 + 3) * 5 = 25
2 + (3 * 5) = 30

This sounds like the solution to what you are describing as the error.

Hope This Helps,
