PO Entry Comment Field

Did you ever find a way to join the customer to the memo?

Hey gang, anybody have any ideas?

I need to create a comments field on PO Entry. Now, I know there's
already a tab for this on PO Entry Header.

That field will be fine.

My challenge is I need this field to be enabled and updateable no matter
the status of the PO. Once the PO has been Closed, the Vantage business
logic locks all fields down.

Has anyone been successful in defeating the Vantage business logic in
this fashion?

Thank you very much!

Vic

Have you considered using Memos instead?

You can add memos to a variety of records in Vantage even after the
record is closed.

Depending upon your use of this information, then you can write a
baq/dashboard/crystal report and collect the memo contents. Just
know that Memos are a table on their own, so you do have to specify
the Related to File and Key1 to find the memo attached to the
specific record.

ChangeLogs are the same way. Vantage stores the identifiers for the
related record as a string in field Key1.

However I've discovered that you can't write a BAQ that joins say
Customer to ChangeLog or Memo because the customer identifier in
Customer is CustNum, which is an integer, and Memo/ChangeLog.Key1 is a
string. The BAQ will return null.

Anyone know how to work around this type mismatch issue?

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Thank you Patty.

That's a great idea and I thought of that a while ago but the Purchasing
Dept rebutted that idea and said "How will we know there is a Memo upon
opening or viewing the PO Entry Screen?"

Perhaps I could put a customization on the screen that checks for any
memo's....

Thank you very much!
