PO suggestion based on JOB order

Hi Team,

I’m facing some problem, please help me out,

I have marked material as a purchase direct on job order entry, but some time i have that material in my warehouse, so in this case when i run mrp, system generated the PO suggestion for that material which should not be generated po suggestion, if i have those material. free stock should be considered in MRP whatever i have marked purchase direct that material on job order.
2nd case - I have issued the material from stock to job order and delete those part po suggestion from po suggestion screen, then i run MRP again- system generated PO suggestions again for those material. it should not happen.

please advice how can we stop suggestion for those material which has been already issued to job order number.

pls keep in mind i don’t want to unmarked purchase direct from job order number

you are running into a limitation of the entire purchase direct concept.. with purchas direct, one of the features is that it will ignore stock on hand, and always buy directly instead of using the inventory. There are reasons why some companies want this.

If you always want it to consider inventory, then the best way is to not use purchase direct, and have the po flow through inventory. if you have your days of supply set to “1” then in most cases, you will have a purchase order for every job (unless you have more than one job per day that needs the material).

Would setting Number of Days supply to “0” create a suggestion for each demand?

Great question… when I was typing my answer, i was confused, and backwards thinking… in many cases, zero has special meaning… for example, minimum/maximum/safety lot size of zero means that there is no min/max/safety. But in this case, i think that Days of supply does create separate suggestions for each demand, and doesnt combine them (but would need testing).

Hi thank you for your valuable reply,
Just i want to tell you one thing, I am talking about one bigest crane manufacturing industries, the following process they are following in present time, and epicor kinetic under implementation where we are facing some issues we are trying client requirement align with epicor kinetic functionality,

Client following the below process

when they receives customer purchase order and creates sales order entry in the epicor kinetic and along with sales order entry they creates project entry for each crane quantity-
Example- If customer gives one purchase order for 2 qty - they creates 2 sales order for each qty and creates 2 project entry.
clients wants project number reference in the purchase order suggestion which will generate through MRP run.
one morething client want to consider free stock in MRP process.
can we reserve material for jobs and that material should not be issued for another jobs. if any material reserve for jobs that material should be considered in MRP.

Because we use Time Phase alongside PO Suggestions to see on hand qty, I just right click on the part number in PO suggestions and go to the “Job Manager”. That way I can select the specific job related to the material (in the demand window) and click the “Pull from Stock” button. The BTO option will not change for the part itself, just that sales order/job.
