When generating new PO suggestions, does the system calculate using existing PO’s within the time frame set on the Days of Supply to calculate supply and demand if a new PO suggestion is generated?
For example, we have a 10 days of supply setting for a Part with an existing PO coming in on day number 5. However we have a shortage in demand that just came in on day 3, would a new PO suggestion be generated or not since the existing PO covers that shortage in demand already within that 10 days of supply? Our expectation is a new PO suggestion would be generated because a shortage in demand exists prior to the existing PO.

Do you keep logs of MRP. I would look at one Part and see what it says. You should see the suggestions in there are well. I have seen where my users tell me MRP is creating excess jobs and no suggestions. Ended up being other users would delete the suggestions.
What version you running?

Does change suggestions show up in Time Phase also for these situations or only through the Change PO Suggestions screen?

We have found in situations like this there will be no new suggestion. However, you should have a change suggestion to expedite the existing suggestion and/or increase the quantity. Depending
on the situation, there also may be suggestions to cancel, postpone, or reduce the PO. You need to look in a Change PO Suggestions to find these.

Hi,
What about the Planning Time Fence in the Part class, Plant section? the help says “Defines a time limit for changes within this part class. This value is the number of days from the current system date that demands requiring supply changes will not be considered by the system. All demands outside of this time limit, however, will be processed as normal.â€

We are on 702a. The MRP log is showing a shortage in demand but no new PO suggestions generated in the logs also. I’m thinking this has something to do with the Days of Supply, where if supply and demand are fulfilled within the Days of Supply time horizon, no new PO suggestions will be generated even if the shortage in demand is before an existing PO.

TimePhase and in change Sugg.
