PO Suggestion Order by and Due Date are less than the Lead Time

Hi,

We have an issue where a part has a 150 day lead time on its Part/Site field and also Supplier Price List has 150 Day Lead Time, but PO suggestions are only giving us 49 days to Order the part. Our MRP runs in the past (dont ask me why, been fighting this forever), so It should have told us to order it in plany of time in the past but it did not. I check Part Class also and there is no defualt lead time there. Not sure what else could be causing this.

This is the only part that is acting this way everything else seems to be fine.

what is your urgent planning lead time?

set to 0

Interestingly when in Pilot, I had similar data, dates were different but still had 49 days instead of 150, but when I ran Generate Suggestions, it fixed it. Not sure why MRP choked on that.

try setting that at the same as your normal lead time (unless you have a secondary supplier that can get it to you quicker), and see what happens. if the demand is sooner then the normal lead time it will default to the urgent settings.

the other thing is what is your MRP cut off date compared to the demand. if MRP doesn’t look at least 150 business days out you will always have trouble.

Im trying this now, but we run our MRP start date 1 year in the past so it should be telling me to order this back in december, but its not.

Our cutoff date is 1 year out, so its picking it up.

Interestingly when i run “generate suggestions” lead time on the suggestion is correct, but when i rerun mrp it goes back to 49 days.

ya that didnt work, went back to 49 days.

strange, it is hard to know with out seeing all the details. i have never tried running MRP with a start date in the past, we normally run it starting today but allow dates in the past.

So here is a blasphemous, heretical thought (you gotta troubleshoot somehow)…

Tonight, from home, after the shop is dark and empty, log in remotely and run MRP from today. See if that part STILL messes up. Then re-run MRP set with its normally goofy setting.

Ive done it in Pilot, getting the same result.

This is also the first time this part has done this, every other time the PO suggestions has been fine.

The crazy thing that gets me is the generate suggestions and MRP should give the same result, but they dont.

MRP is pretty logical. Usually there is a method to its madness. Whether it makes sense in reality is a different story.
Is it a contract PO?
if you didn’t figure this out already I may be able to help but I need screenshots of your planning parameters from time phase (if you’re in Kinetic it’s a popout), a screenshot of time phase with suggestions turned on and one with it turned off. A screenshot of Process MRP with your run parameters selected would be useful also. If you could also verify the status of Dynamic Days of Supply modifier in site maintenance.
