We run PO Suggestions daily at 4:30a as a net change. We have the new PO Suggestion module set as a named search that auto populates when we run it to show only those POs which have been set as Not Reviewed.
Every single day when we run this, even though POs are marked as Reviewed, these still all appear again. Are we missing something?
What do your named search settings look like?
Have you run a query and made sure there are suggestion records marked as reviewed? Running net change shouldn’t be clearing the checkbox when suggestions run.
Yes, we have reviewed them and know that these were marked as reviewed and yet they are reappearing.
Reread your message. I queried to see if any were marked as reviewed. Low and behold they are not.
If you mark them as reviewed today, do they not stay marked as reviewed tomorrow? This is very frustrating from my buyer’s perspective.
Is MRP running overnight?
Yes, it runs at 5a and then again at noon. Are we just in an endless loop?
If MRP is run in regen mode then it will remove all the PO suggestions and recreate them. It also seems strange to run Generate PO Suggestions at 4:30am, just to run MRP at 5am.
Disclaimer: we’ve only been live on E10 since 1/2/19.
The system agent tasks were set up by our consultant.
Question: should we review the way that this is run. Change the timing in the AM to be reversed and then not run MRP in regen mode?
Jeff is correct, if you have regen selected, it will replace all of those records, including the ones you marked as reviewed.
At my previous company, during the week, they ran a net change nighly then on sunday, they would do a complete regen.
The real question is, why are they being ignored? How does someone know that they need to be just “reviewed” and not have anything real done with them? If that is something rule based, can those rules be reflected in settings within the system? I think the intention behind the suggestions is to keep them until you do something about it, which is, make a PO and order it, or change something in the demand if it isn’t right. If you are having a lot of suggestions that you want to review/ignore, maybe you need to look at the inputs and see if there is something you can change there to remove those from the suggestions. There are settings for how far out they look and setting maxes and mins for part numbers.
Something to think about.
Wait… another question and maybe I am wrong. Are you and Why running PO Suggestions and MRP. MRP should automatically do PO Suggestions. There should not be a need to run both in the same night.
You arent wrong Kimberly. MRP will also generate suggestions.
ok that is what i thought. I did have someone try to tell me that it doesn’t and they were a cert consultant…bad bad.
We were running both so we could get the purchased items…thought that is the difference…
Wouldn’t you need to run PO suggestions in addition to MRP?
Or does MRP consider any demand, and not just for manufacturing and inventory?
Does MRP create PO suggestions for BuyTo Order items on Order line?
MRP generates PO Suggestions as well.
to clarify, remember earlier “newbie” reference
MRP will generate PO Suggestions for any and all materials regardless of how it’s established based on demand on sales orders?
sorry for the confusion.
Yes.
Running MRP will also effectively run Generate PO Suggestions. If you run MRP then you don’t need to run Generate PO Suggestions as a separate process.
